The Providence of God

Life frequently seems to be out of control. Throughout the past several years (ever since highschool actually), I have been through various seasons of life where I sometimes wonder if God knows what he is doing. It feels like nothing is going right in my life.

Of course, to think nothing is going right is to be egocentric. God’s primary responsibility in this world is not to make me happy. God’s purpose and design in this world is to bring honor and glory to himself.

Scripture assures believers that God has a plan and purposes encompassing them. Scripture does not promise, however, that God’s plan will be fun. Quite the opposite, in fact. The Bible encourages believers to expect trials and tribulations in life.

The one constant through all of life’s ups and downs, however, is the providence of God. How sweet it is to know that despite the valleys of life God is working and moving! He will bring honor and glory to himself through my life. That truth and constant is very encouraging through the difficult seasons of life.

Thank you so much for this. I’m struggling with life right now and I love that it is not I who is in control, it’s the Lord.
