Learning to Forgive

Recently in Sunday School, the class engaged in a vigorous discussion of forgiveness. The class itself is a marriage class (although singles were welcome to join in the class). So the questions under discussion centered primarily around forgiveness between spouses.

As a result of the discussion, it got me thinking about forgiveness. In my opinion, forgiveness is one of the hardest tasks God has called believers to do. When hurt by someone, it can be so challenging to come to the point of completely and entirely forgiving him/her.

Regardless of how challenging it is to forgive, the fact remains that God has called His children to forgive those who have wronged them. It’s easy to say but it can be much harder to put into practice.

I have written a little bit about a journey of forgiveness that God lead me through some years ago.

Jessica recently tackled the issue of forgiveness as well. She dwells on the work of God in healing the hurts inflicted by others. He brings healing.

I agree that forgiveness is one of the hardest tasks. One thing especially for me, is to forgive regardless of how the other person reacts. Even if they are hurtful, we still need to forgive and in the end it makes us all feel better.
