The Pumpkin Patch Parable

Yesterday this book arrived much sooner than I had anticipated. So…I decided to read this story with the boys as our Thanksgiving activity for the day. (Unfortunately, I didn’t get any good pictures.)

The story is about a farmer who plants pumpkin seeds and waits patiently for them to grow, just as God’s Word grows in our lives when we read and meditate on it. After the pumpkin is harvested the farmer cleans up all of the yucky pulp (just like when God takes away our sins when we ask Him to be Lord of our lives) and makes a smiling pumpkin face that lights up his porch (similar to what God does with a life given to Him).

I loved the simple analogy the author made with the Bible verses included at the bottom of the pages. Both Drew and Carter listened intently last night while Tim read it to them and Drew enjoyed having me read it to him again this morning. 🙂
