Family Traditions

Growing up we didn’t have “official” family traditions, but there were things I looked forward to. Family movie and pizza night, Christmas morning breakfast, picking out and buying our Christmas tree the first weekend in December, and working with Mom to prepare a big Thanksgiving feast are  memories I love to reflect on.

Tim and I have created some little traditions for our family. Some of our family traditions include…

1. Family Movie and Pizza Night – Both Tim and I loved these family nights growing up, so, of course, we have to give Drew and Carter these same fun memories. 🙂 Tim makes the pizza…from homemade dough to his special sauce (it’s so good!) to baking it perfectly.

2. Christmas Eve Dinner – Tim grew up with the tradition of eating spaghetti for dinner on Christmas Eve, so it’s something we have carried over into our family. Spaghetti and meatballs…yummy!

3. Christmas Morning Breakfast – Cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, and sausage. When I was little, every Christmas morning (after we opened our gifts) Mom would make this delicious breakfast. We would all sit down to eat it before heading to the Christmas morning church service. I carried this tradition over to our family because I simply cannot imagine a Christmas morning without cinnamon rolls, eggs and sausage.

And that is pretty much the extent of our family traditions. And, as you can see, they are not original, since all three of them began with our families. 🙂

But with the holidays approaching I would love to learn about other family traditions. If you have a favorite family tradition, please share it in the comments!
