Three years ago a man bought his fiance an iPod for Christmas. Being the music lover that she was she thoroughly enjoyed her iPod. She enjoyed putting songs into iTunes, organizing them and then transferring them all to her iPod. Fast forward two years…her laptop decided to go kaput! And with her laptop went her ability to “edit” her iPod. There were new songs she wanted and some songs she didn’t like anymore. But there was nothing she could do.
A few months ago, she was given a brand new laptop. Yay! Still one problem though…if she plugged her iPod in to the iTunes on her new computer, her iPod would sync to the new iTunes…erasing all of her songs! That would simply not do!
If you haven’t guessed by now, this was the precise predicament I found myself in. I had a whole list of songs I wanted to add to my iPod, but I simply couldn’t without losing the songs I already had on there. And then I found this post.
I put it off for quite awhile as it seemed like a lot of work. When I finally got around to it…yes…it did take awhile. You have to download this program…follow the instructions (and if at some point it doesn’t seem to be working, try restarting your computer)…give it some time…and you will be able to transfer ALL of your songs FROM your iPod TO your computer!!! And then you can add, delete, rearrange to your heart’s delight.
It was completely worth the time it took. And now I can enjoy listening to my iPod once again!
That’s what works for me!

There is actually a setting in iTunes that you can change so it doesn’t automatically sync when you dock your iPod, and will let you manually add/remove files. I had to figure this out when I was trying to put some of the music from my computer onto Mary’s iPod. It was fairly simple. I don’t know why Apple has to make this so difficult, lol!
But either way, I’m glad you found a way to make it work.
I am glad you got to listen to your music again.
OR!! You can show the hidden music file on the iPod, copy and paste it to your harddrive and go from there. xD
Glad it worked for you too!! I have told many people about that great little FREE program!!
